Your invited to join us as we step out in support of the people of Ukraine through Walk My Way Ukraine 2024.

On Saturday 11 May, we hope to welcome 1,000 walkers as we step out in the heart of Brisbane to raise awareness and much needed funds to support the Ukrainian people who continue to suffer in the war with Russia.

Together, we will stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and celebrate their resilience and culture… while at the same time providing valuable, practical support.

ALWS Walk My Way Ukraine
Saturday 11 May 2024, 1-5pm
QUT Gardens Point Campus, Brisbane

Mark you calendars now and plan to join us on Saturday 11 May from 1pm at QUT Gardens Point Campus, Brisbane City.

Our Reason for Walking

When the bomb went off near her house in Ukraine, eight-year-old Tapolina and her mum ran to a bomb shelter. They joined a hundred other people hiding from the Russian attack.

Tens of thousands more fled to the border to find safety in places like Poland.

Sadly, the world moves on, and Ukrainian children now face being forgotten by the world.

That’s why you’re invited to step out in the Brisbane ALWS Walk My Way to care for the children of Ukraine.

You help build bomb shelters under schools in Ukraine, so children trapped in the country can keep on learning.

For children who reach safety in Poland, you join the communities welcoming them as guests. Food. Shelter. Clothes. Trauma counselling. Support to go to school. Help to learn Polish.

You choose how far you Walk My Way … but are invited to consider the challenge of 12,500 steps – one step for each Ukrainian civilian life lost. You receive a Walk My Way Ukraine T-shirt to tell the world why you’re walking, while a community festival will show you how you are valued by those you help.

As you step out here in Australia, you join Lutheran communities in Ukraine and Poland helping children like Tapolina start life again! What a way to walk for life!
