One of the most effective ways to keep transforming lives is to leave a bequest in your Will to ALWS.
Treasure in heaven
One of the most effective ways to keep transforming lives is to leave a bequest in your Will to ALWS. After taking care of your family, this can be the biggest gift you give in your lifetime, and it’s a wonderful way to proclaim to those you love the values you hold important.
Of course, you should always discuss your plans with your loved ones, and consult a legal practitioner about your Will.
What your bequest can do
For the people you help...
A bore-hole in the harsh lands of South Sudan or Kenya ... a Field School in Cambodia or Burundi to show families the value of veggies in keeping children healthy, and how surplus from a Kitchen Garden can produce precious income … a school in a refugee camp so children who have lost everything can at least have the hope of education. These examples show the life-transforming help you can give with a bequest to help others through ALWS.
For your loved ones…
A bequest to help others through ALWS is a wonderful way to show the people you care about the values you hold most dear. Your example of kindness and generosity to others is a powerful witness about what you believe to be most important in life. Planning your Will carefully and clearly, with professional guidance, relieves your family of worry, and frees them to celebrate your life in the way you’d wish them to.
Choose the impact you make
There are two ways you can choose for your bequest to be used.
Direct your action now
You are welcome to simply designate your bequest to the ALWS Overseas Program. This has the advantage that ALWS can put your gift to work where we know it is needed most urgently. If you like, you can tell us the kind of projects that most interest you. However, as you understand, the areas in which you help people through ALWS can change quickly, so it’s important to discuss this option with ALWS before formalising your Will.
Keep helping ‘forever’!
A very practical way to keep on helping people through your Will is to allocate your bequest to the LLL-ALWS Support Fund. Money in the Support Fund is never spent, but generates a generous return each year. ALWS uses this to support vital ALWS action considered most urgent. Your gift becomes part of LLL Permanent Funds, administered by the LLL (Lutheran Laypeople’s League), so you can be confident it is in good hands. Because your bequest donation is never spent, you keep helping year after year!
Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are.
