“People’s lives are better!”

Hard-working and determined. These words describe the people in Cambodia you help through ALWS and our local partner Life With Dignity (LWD) together with support from the Australian Government.

Phang Kunthea and husband Mut Huy: "Thanks to LWD, we now know how to raise chickens and make our own income."

Meet Phang Kunthea and her husband Mut Huy.

After one of their sons learnt about chicken raising from LWD and taught his parents, Phang put in a proposal to LWD for some chickens.

In December 2016, the family received 21 hens and a rooster – and by October 2017, they’d already sold 5 rounds of chickens!

As part of the chicken project, Phang and Mut pay back 50% of the cost to help other community members. They only have one payment to go. PLUS they share what they’ve learnt about chicken raising with other families.

Not content with helping her community this way, Phang is also a Village Health Volunteer, sharing information to keep her community healthy.

She’s so thankful for your support in starting her chicken-raising business, and says:

“Every intervention and project supported by LWD is successful. Road, dams, vegetable growing. People’s lives are better!”

ALWS acknowledges the support of the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program.
