Hope Spot 37 – Keep on walking… wheeling… hopping???
Hop(e) to it! There’s many ways you can be a blessing…
You know ALWS Walk My Way is something pretty special when even the native wildlife want to join in …
This was the scene at Aberfoyle Park Walk My Way SA a couple of weekends ago.
You may remember I told you I did the walk early.
It went around Happy Valley Reservoir …
… though I was not so happy when we walked too far and had to sprint to get back to the gates so we didn’t get locked in for the night!
(A big thank you to all who sponsored
my walk, and donated $466 total!)
In total, there were 49 Walkers, from four different Lutheran congregations…
The aim was to raise $10,000, and they smashed it – $13,640!!! THANK YOU!
Now, I have four more photos from the Aberfoyle Park Walk My Way to show you. Take a look through them, and tell me what you notice:
What did you see?
Let’s start with the photo above.
This is Brian Neldner, former Director of Lutheran World Federation, 91 years young! Brian walked 1.2 kilometres.
You also have pram-age Walkers. Young and old, side by side. Male and female, walking together. Bike or pram or crutches, whatever it takes.
This is the beauty of us working together through ALWS, reaching out to help people forgotten by the world.
All of us can do something.
If this has got you fired-up, you can organise your own Walk My Way – when you like, where you like, as far as you like.
OR
You can be part of the Gawler Walk My Way on Sunday 20 October, walking 13 kilometres through the beautiful Barossa Valley, from Lyndoch to Gawler. You can also choose a 3 kilometre or 7 kilometre route. The aim is to raise $6,000 to support a Farm Partnership in Burundi, and a School Kitchen Garden at Kakuma Refugee Camp.
OR
Join the team from ALWS Platinum Partner, LLL, at their North Adelaide Walk My Way
after work on Friday 25 October. This is a 5 kilometre walk around North Adelaide and the River Torrens, aiming to raise $10,000, and finishing with LLL hospitality at the Welly pub!
OR
If you can’t join a walk, you can step out in the Down Under Step Up campaign to ask our political parties to increase overseas aid to 1% of Australia’s budget – from 0.68%.
This is a simple one step two minute email campaign.
See, there are all kinds of ways
you can be a blessing ALWayS.
So, what else can I say
– you guessed it:
HOP(E) TO IT!!!
