Hope Spot 35- What team are you on these footy finals?
You go first to those who are forgotten…
As you know, Collingwood AFL supporters are kind caring people. 😊
The proof, if you need it, is that my team decided not to make the finals this year, just to give someone else a go.
The benefit for me is I now have a Stress-Free September!
That gives me four weekends where I can do things like join the Walk My Way at Aberfoyle Park SA, where a team of walkers young and old will enjoy the kangaroos and gums around Happy Valley Reservoir …
You are welcome to sponsor my Walk: https://oursaviouraberfoyle.walkmyway.org.au/page/JonathanKrause-84114842Â
I also joined ALWS Ambassador Boot Camps in Melbourne and Brisbane …
… where dozens of teachers from Lutheran Schools came to be equipped and inspired to be a team of Ambassadors in their schools for ALWS, supported by our Platinum Partner LLL.
There is an amazing power in teams.
Â
A committed, hard-working, well-supported team enables individuals to achieve much more together than they can on their own.
In fact, there’s an old African proverb that says:
If you want to go fast, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.
I saw this at Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, where young people from multiple nations and tribes come together in the Kakuma All Stars ‘football’ team …
… and are supported by thousands of people each match!
You support this teamwork for many levels of sport at Kakuma.
For girls and boys, children and youth, volleyball and basketball and ‘football’. For artistic talent as well as sporting talent. All alongside a quality education.
So, if ever the work you do for others through ALWS feels like success is far away, or the challenges too many …
… hold on to the fact that we go together, so we can go far.
Yes, it can be hard work …
… a lot of heads down and bums up 😊
… but I hope you feel it’s worth it when you see the joy your hard work, and humble kindness, bring to people’s lives:
So, even if your footy team hasn’t made the footy finals this year, please know you are still a champion – and a blessing ALWayS. Thank you!
Â
PS: I hope Collingwood doesn’t aim to be so kind to other teams next year!!!
