Let your love come to life for a special child this Christmas
ALWS and our Lutheran Church invite you to bring love to life for special children this Christmas.
Your gift can provide an assessment for a child with special needs, and a simple school stationery set. Your donation is fully tax-deductible.
Love loves the Lonely
““My daughter is Rachis Bee. She is 8 years old and has a disability.
Before your help came, she was out of school, and very lonely. She had no friends. She feared speaking to others and had a lot of difficulties in learning.
As parents, we did not know how to care for her, especially for her mental and physical development.”
Welcome a Child
You might recognise Nathan (and his bunny!) from this year’s ALWS Gifts of Grace.
Nathan is 13, and lives in Bur/graceundi. Thanks to the kindness of people like you, Nathan now goes to school. He also has a Fluffy Fertiliser Factory – the rabbits he breeds to provide poo to make free fertiliser to improve the family’s crops.
Nathan is now strong and healthy. There are other children, though, who have extra needs.
Your love this Christmas can help make sure these special children aren’t forgotten, and don’t miss out on the extra care they need!
Love welcomes all
“I feel good going to school because I am treated well. Children don’t tease me.”
Darifa is 8, and lives in Burundi. She has albinism. In times past, people with albinism were hunted down by witchdoctors, and their body parts sold as medicines.
Now, our Lutheran-supported action is successfully changing attitudes to protect children like Darifa.
Love looks forward
“I am thankful for you taking care of my daughter and giving me hope that all will be well, even in times of despair. I am happy she will overcome everything.”
Jawaahir is one, and has Down Syndrome. Her mum, Nimco Ali, is grateful for extra ALWS help in a Displaced Persons Camp in Somalia, where Jawaahir is now developing new skills at a Play Therapy Group.
Love works hard
“I get up at 6 in the morning. I fetch some water. I carry the water on my head. I don’t have a meal before I go to school. After school, I help my parents in the field. I am trying to cultivate more beans. At home we have no electricity, so after dinner we go to bed.”
Nella is 9 years old. In communities like hers, many girls miss out on school and have to go to work. They may be married off early, and forced to have children before their bodies are ready. Equipping a girl with education is proven protection.
